Located on a mountain top of Hon Tre Island, leaning on the cliff with one side overlooking Nha Trang Bay which is windy all year round, Truc Lam Pagoda really is a place for visitors to calm themselves to peace. From Vinpearl Land resort, visitors can walk on the rocky footsteps around the mountain’s side or use electric car on asphalted road winding up mountains to Buddhism land on the mountain. Wonderful natural view, vast blue sea, pure aroma and bright sunshine will steal your daily fatigue to come to the spiritual space, an inclined-to-the-good space at the pagoda.

Truc lam Pagoda structure emulates the shape of “quo” (means the nation) – the traditional architecture of Northern pagodas with shoe-shaped tiles, bow roof and curved endings in the shape of crane, lion and tortoise etc. The whole architecture is featured by ironwood sculptured with patterns of 4 natural sacred animals, cement walls, perrons made of Ninh Binh stone, worship statures and horizontal boards and parallel sentences made by gilded lacquer wood.
Covered an area of 44.9m (length) and 27.3m (width), the Pagoda is composed of a number of buildings namely Dai Hung Sanctuary, Hau to, Western Lean-to, Eastern Lean-to, Dia Tang temple, Buddist house etc.  The highlight of this architecture is the outdoor 14m statue of the Goddess of Mercy whose left hand lifts a jar and right hand bears a willow branch with lissome and solemn posture and merciful facial expressions overlooking the sea. The statue carved from white stone of Nghe An, with 8-m body and 4.3-m pedestal shaping like sea wave made from cement and iron frame (total length of the statue is 12.3m) is solemnly put in the flower garden on the right hand side of the pagoda.

The front of Pagoda with three-door board gate and the back with three-door roof gate adorn the pagoda with a solemn and ancient look. The Buddhist Sanctuary is solemnly arranged. Following the arrangement and style in ancient Northern pagodas, worship statues here are all made of wood by artisans in famous handicraft villages. The main temple worships Temple Gate Guardian Deity Who Encourages People To Do Good Things. , Temple Gate Guardian Deity Who Punishes Devils, Bát Bộ Kim Cương – Celestial Guardian,  Ananda etc. Internal Sanctuary worships a lot of Buddist statues and Bodhisattvas such as Buddha of the Past, Present and Future, Trinity, Sakya Shazon, Maitreya Buddha etc. on the central alter and  the statue of Goddess of Mercy and the ten Kings of Hell on the  two sides. The Western and Eastern lean-tos of the pagoda worship the ancestors of Zen.

Apart from the sanctuary lacquer statues with artful sculpture, Dai Hung Bao Dien is also decorated with a number of hammock doors, parallel sentences, and horizontal boards to propagate Buddism and life-saving ideology.

Speaking of Truc Lam pagoda, the Venerable Abbot Thich Minh Thong wrote: “Standing on the mountain Truc Lam, facing the West, we can enjoy the wind blowing from immense blue ocean, free the eyes to the West of magnificent city of Nha Trang and distant spectacular mountains which creates a wonderful picture with sparkling colors from the weave of modern urban buildings, rural nature and forests. Natural endowment with stunning beauty and laborious work of people exploring this land formed an ancient solemn pagoda today.”

Every time coming to the coastal city of Nha Trang, Truc Lam pagoda – an enormous and unique architecture with features of a Northern ancient pagoda on a windy island of the Central and the statue of Goddess of Mercy in the midst of immense sea and sky, visitors have touched the spiritual and inclined-to-the-good spaces deep in their hearts.
